The Educational Program of (Albert) Schweitzer's Spirit

I participated the educational program in July which held by the eucational department of government that the goal in order to help the students who had the low achievement of exams to remedy their schoolwork.

I found the students were more concentrate on the class of learning the foreing language by playing games. It was not attracting by pupils that teacher instructed by grammar pattern explicitely or taught the conversation by Audiolingual Method (rote learning). Therefore, the teacher has to think out many ideas of interesting teaching games and activities. Besides, I found the "bingo" was a great recreation to let students to review the lesson or good way to make a quiz to exam their degree of lesson internalization. Inspite of the play of "bingo" is so convenient and easy available to test the students' English ablility of textbook unit what you taught in class, teachers must not use it too often. In othe rwords, I suggest teachers have to vary the acitivities, otherwise, the students will get fed up with the play.

Phonics

It's more and more popular to teach phonics to English beginner level learners in Taiwan, so phonics is useful to pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and second grade. The video which cites from Youtube let us more understand the outline of phonics. The main function of phonics is help childern to learn how to spell the words (vocabulary) fastly.

Most of the senior high schools use the Far East Book as the teaching material of English, so I recommend the website: http://dict.fareast.com.tw/onlinedict.asp which contains the vocabulary of six books of Far East Book and it's convenient for the high school students to review the vocabulary. In addition, this website offers the extra derivatives each of the vocabulary, so it can help students study and recall the words more efficiently.

Grammar Website

I recommend this website which is suitable for middle school students. The website doesn't have attracting flash, but the explanation of grammar use is clearly. Besides, in my opinion, I think the way of grammar explanations which are similar with the teachers who lecture in the schools. Actually, I found the website of English grammar teaching that can attract students to watch the videos, but I think the explanations which aren't proper for Taiwanese whose English as the foreign language. In other words, the website which I recommend has no any flash and videos (Which the grammar explanations aren't clear enough) , but a lot of texts t. Based on the reason, I prefer this website instead other websites which contain many variety videos. http://www.geocities.com/boring0706/test/grammar.html

5th Reflection

I take the selective course “English Computer-Assisted Language Learning” this semester. In the class, the teacher didn’t teach us anything about the theory of CALL. What’s more, the teacher teaches us how to us the softwares in the internet and asks us have to register a blog that records the reflection or the topic about English learning which is worthy to share with somebody else. In the mid-term exam, the teacher will ask us to practical operate the softwares on the computer. It's different from the chapetr which about CALL of Applied Linguistic. On the contrary, the professor lectures a lot of theory and academic knowledge in the course of Applied Linguistic.

Technology in the Classroom --- Pros

1. It's easy to operation and available conveniently no matter of teachers or students .

2. The imagine learning provides authentic material and it's fun to attract kids use it because the imagine learning contains a lot of visual and audio stimulation.

3. Computer can offers individual instruction and test the language ability mediately by playing a game and the software will tell you the result of the exam.

4. It provides a safe learning environment and make learners have the comprehensible input. Besides, it makes children feel free and less the pressure rather than fear the stress of peers.

5. The technology computer has rich vocabulary and literacy by the product. Therefore, the teacher doesn't need to copy the words on the blackboard hardly.
