4th Reflection

The professor told us what's the different between blog and wikispaces. Blog just like the diary that writing many articles. Wikispaces unlikes blog which we can put many projects and edit some categories as a book. I've put almost my academic projects on kiwispaces as a portfolio that I hope it can help me to apply the graguate school Besides, the teacher taught us how to use and manage wikispaces because we don't have hear about it and unfamiliar with the spaces and how to convert the video file of avi into MP4 or rmvb.

The lecturer asked us who have to make a project which related our English Department and think some great ideas to promote it. Actually, I find a good partner to work together and we've already had the direction to make the project of mid-term assignment that how to promote the English Department of Providence University successfully.

Today, I went to the bookstore to buy the textbook which is portable instead of heavy. The point what I want to say is that I think it's too expensive and it seems unworthy of the high price. Based on the reason, so I'm bleeding now.

3rd Reflection

The professor asked us to make a project to promote English Department of Providence University. I'm a little worried about at first because I'm not sure I can achieve it well or not. But now, I can't wait and so exciting to set about it because I get many ideas than I imagination. I applied a wikispace account which is similar web2.0, but I still don't understand how to operate it. Everybody can edit my data if the person who is the membership of wikispace. I can't put up it that my website be changed by other people who I don't well-known without my permission.

In the course, the teacher taught us how to put video of YouTube on PPT and Media Player. The process is not complicated at all. The skill benefit me a lot while doing the assignment, but I think it has the biggest disadvantage that is it must connects with Internet if we want to open the video in order to let it work. Besides, the lecturer told us how to switch the video file. First, you have to copy the website of YouTube. Then, go to the website http://vixy.net/ that service allow you convert the flash video file without any charge. In addtion, if you want to more information about CALL, you can visit the department" College of Foreign Languages" in National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology and call on the website about the multimedia Internet teaching to find the professor 陳其芬.

Podcast

Podcast is the word that combines with "iPod" and "broadcast." It's free to download the video and music what you like from the internet. The prerequisite is that you have to install the software "iTunes" and it could renew the content which you subscribed. Besides, people listens the music and the television show at any time and in any place. It's populared by people in Western, but the society in the Eastern is not yet. Podcast has been treaten to the broadcast extraordinarily. Anyone who has the chance to become the host by himself of talk show.

Successful Language Teacher

A successful language teacher must have some characteristics. How to improve the weaknesses and use the strengths to help the students to learn English well and efficiently? I realized that I always to notice the students who has abundant production and good performance instead of the competence and comprehension of the student who has a lot of inhibitions. Therefore, I think a teacher has to help them to reduce the peer pressure, encourage to speak out English and should be patient to instruct the students who far behind their schoolwork. Besides, I found that I often praise the student who has the learning characteristics of extroversion instead of introversion.

Of course, the duty of teacher has to understand the student's aptitude in order to help them to find out their own learning and cultivate the learning strategies. Consequently, we have to cultivate the intrinsic motivation rather than extrinsic motivation to learn English. In the process of learning English, the teacher has to put the grammar systematically and think what methodology is the best that present the rules to the students which won't interfere with their native language. The teacher shouldn't repetition the pedagogy if the student doesn't understand what are you talking about. That is to say, a good language teacher must say something in the other words to explain the knowledge of English when the listener is confusing the content of lecture.

2nd Reflection

I've never heard "delicious bookmarked" and " yahoo mini-pen" before. Visiting the website of http://del.icio.us/ and have to create a new account. Then, you log in your account and edit the tag by adding the website address which you browsed. The best advantage of delicious bookmark is that you can connect to the website which exist in your tag by any computer without the space limitation. So far, I don't understand how to manage the tag and edit it efficiently yet.

The function of yahoo mini-pen is similar to dictionary. You can search out the meaning of the word by dragging the icon to it which you don't know when you're reading the article. The disadvantage of mini-pen is that it can translation the sentence or phrase. Besides, it can't look up the vocabulary that insides the picture.

In the end of the class, I learned how to put the vedio which comes from Youtube to the blog of Google. I think the process is easier if compare with Wretch. In fact, I'm afraid of the computer would doesn't work by downloading some extra softwares what the teacher introduces us in the course because my computer a little bit old. Be frankly, I have no idea how to prepare the terminal exam and fianl exam. The professor doesn't say what she'd like to test the theory or show out the practical operation in the examinations.

1st Reflection

In the first class, the professor taught us what is "web 2.0" and explained what is the mean of "CALL". The term is the abbreviation of computer-assisted language learning. Besides, the teacher asked us who major in English Department must be sensitive to any phrase of English abbreviations. I learned how to use "Firefox " to check the spelling and knew what the function of "Dr.Eye" in the second class. Of course, correct spelling still plays an important role in the modern society. Moreover, the professor instructed us how to search the files of ppt, pdf and doc by using Google.

I'm expecting the next class is coming because I can get some new knowledge, learning what I've been never know and never tried. The academic always inspires us to keep the intellectual curiosity, making us hold the appetite for knowledge and possess the acquisitiveness. Finally, I just want to say I love Joni very much and appreciate her professional.

The professor commends us write down the reflection of English learning and share it with other people. Well, I think the idea is great beause it can inspire us to create some good sentences. I seldom use the search engine of Google to collect academic material and information. In the selective course, the professor teaches us how to use Google in order to search the abudant materials. Besides, the teachter introduces some great software to us which would make us more efficient whiling doing the assignment.
